Regular hangers sit at both ends of the run and at the spacing you pick (or the schedule maximum). Rectangular rod and strap suggestions key off the half-perimeter — width plus depth — the way the SMACNA hanger table is organized. Extra hangers are added when an estimated elbow is more than 2 ft from an existing hanger, or an estimated tee is more than 4 ft away, matching the 4th-edition placement details.
